Position Title: Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator
Location: Savannah, GA
Description:

The Coordinator of Medical Staff Services/Credentialing serves as a resource to the Medical Staff for services related to credentialing for initial appointments and reappointments; ensures that applications are processed within approved time frames; prepares reports for monthly Medical Staff meetings; maintains changes to the ED call schedules; consults with the Manger and Director of Medical Staff Services on problems relating to the area of responsibility and supports the overall mission and philosophy of the Health System.

Core Job Functions:

Process initial applications for medical staff and medical assistants

Responsible for maintaining credentials files in accordance with Hospital Board Bylaws, Medical Staff Bylaws and other regulating agencies. Prepares required forms and documentation for applications and ensures that necessary primary source verification's are received within required time frames and identifies potential quality issues and brings to the attention of Manager. Maintains file in correct order and prepares for signatures of chairpersons, enters data into computer system accurately, coordinates new practitioner orientations and prepares initial appointment letters for VPMA signature.

Process reappointment applications for medical staff and medical assistants.

Tracks reappointments on a monthly basis and prepares and mails packets prior to the expiration date. Processes reappointment applications within specified time frames by obtaining primary source verification from approved sources and identifies potential quality issues and brings to the attention of the Manager and Director. Enters data into computer system accurately and prepares for presentation to appropriate chairpersons and prepare letters for VPMA signature.

Supports Medical Staff Committee & Meetings

Prepares agendas, information, reports and other documentation for committees and distributes prior to meeting. Attends committee meetings as assigned and records minutes. Prepares information, follow-up correspondence, minutes or other reports and files or distributes as appropriate.

Provides additional support and coordination of services to the Department and Medical Staff

Maintains ED call schedules and other rosters and reports as assigned. Has working knowledge of the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and Joint Credentials Manual. Participates in cross-training of other personnel in the department and serves as a back-up to others in the department when needed.

Required Skills:

Experience in MD-Staff credentialing software and Meditech applications preferred

Experience in computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel) required.

Experience in office equipment (multi-lined phones, scanner, fax) required.

Excellent customer service skills required.

Able to travel between campuses required.

Required Education:

Associates Degree in Healthcare preferred

CPCS certification preferred
